Monday night, Virgil Welch and I visited 9 homes on the new movers list that we are getting. We are calling this “Bless This Home”. We rang the doorbell and if they were home prayed for the house to be a home for the new family and that God would bless them with safety and peace as they lived there. If they were not home, we prayed anyway and left them a note saying that we had prayed for their home, and for them, you can see the flyer here.
These are part of an evangelism strategy that we need to expand upon; parts of that are passive such as a rehab on our marquee sign in the front of the church. Other parts of an evangelism strategy are active, such as members being invitational. Most people come to churches because they were invited, they stay for many reasons, but they show up mostly because they are invited by someone they know, even if that relationship is casual. Each of us is responsible for evangelism and the church grows by our spreading the word (and the Word) and inviting others to come and see.
Another piece of evangelism today is using social media to spread the good news of what God is doing among us. When the church posts on social media about an event or something that happens at the church, take a second to like and repost or share it on your social media to help others that are your friends know about what’s happening.
If we want to grow the Kingdom of God in this world we all have a part to play, so invite someone to church, share about what God is doing among us, and pray for the unfolding of His grace!
Peace,
Pastor Burt
Matthew 28:19-20. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
