Thanksgiving for Christ the King

Christ the King Sunday

Thanksgiving or Christ the King? How about both?

Thanksgiving is upon us next week, and then Advent is the preparation and waiting time for Christmas.  Actually, this Sunday on the church calendar is not Thanksgiving Sunday; it’s Christ the King Sunday followed by, nope again, not Thanksgiving Sunday, but the First Sunday of Advent.  But in many ways, Christ the King Sunday is a day of Thanksgiving to God for His Son, Jesus Christ the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  He is also called the First Fruits of The Harvest in 1 Corinthians 15:20. And so we will celebrate this week that in the name of Jesus Christ, every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord of All.

That’s it this week. This is a brief thought to guide you in worship and hopefully in our feast for Thanksgiving on Sunday and next Thursday; let us celebrate that Christ is King and that He is the Supreme Authority that stands in judgment of all earthly rulers, and let us pray that He may guide the rulers, elected officials, and all those appointed to office.  And let us further pray that they take heed of Him in all that they do, for we celebrate the Harvest of crops and of Souls that the Lord brings forth.

Peace,

Burt
