...with the decision to join the Global Methodist Church we will begin to live into this reality slowly as the end of the year approaches
Dear Friends,
As you are aware, things at Christ Church are changing. The congregation led by the movement of the Holy Spirit has elected to leave the United Methodist denomination and Sunday, October the 8th…
Christ Church voted to unite with The Global Methodist Church.
The Global Methodist Church was launched on May 1, 2022, and at last report had 3,000 churches and more joining or being planted every day. The GMC was birthed to continue the historic Christian faith handed on to us through the ages.
Christ Church will pay the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church a little more than $70,000 in November to leave the denomination. To date, we have collected $41,369 with another. $7,550 that is pledged. This will leave us with approximately $23,000 left to borrow. With current interest rates nearing 10% for loans, the church will incur an additional $2,500 in interest costs over two years.
I invite you to be in prayer that God will help us reduce the amount we need to borrow before the end of October so that ministry may flourish at Christ Church unencumbered by debt.
In connected news, the signage is in the process of being changed. We are required to remove the Cross and Flame logo and the phrase United Methodist from our campus before November. We have already made the transition on most of our online accounts like the website and social media accounts. You will note a change in our logo as well (see above image). It is already on the south side of our marquee and will soon be on the other as well as our doors.
There are other administrative changes underway and lots of paperwork to do in this transitional period that will continue through the end of December and into January before we are done. We will strive to be transparent in all these changes at the appropriate time.
We have submitted our application to the Global Methodist Church and are awaiting notice of our official payout from the Western North Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, which should be approximately $70,000 (see above). The other $2,000 in our pledge campaign is to cover other legal and physical costs like the deed transfer, signage cost, reprinting checks, and so forth.
We are constantly looking for ways to trim costs without sacrificing ministry at the church. Our desire is to be the best stewards of all that God has given us.
Lastly with the decision to join the Global Methodist Church we will begin to live into this reality slowly as the end of the year approaches
Peace,
Burt
