YOU GOTTA TELL SOMEBODY!
A storm is on the way. Helene will be a major hurricane and could come our way this weekend. So, we are preparing. At our home, that means pulling the generator out close to the meter, so we are ready when the power goes down.
At the church, we are preparing for a different type of storm; a Holy Spirit storm. They experienced this at the conference in Costa Rica. The Holy Spirit has been moving in both the Worship services, as evidenced by the delegates’ testimonies all over Facebook. The Holy Spirit has also been moving in committees and the main voting sessions to shape our denomination as lean and designed for growth at the local church level. At the same time, the design is to provide leadership and accountability up and down the ladder from Bishops to clergy to congregations. From watching some of the sessions, I can see that this is accomplished by the work the conference is producing.
Now, it is our turn to prepare for the Holy Spirit to light us on fire. We are doing the right things in worship, fellowship, study, missions, and outreach. Our Fall Fling will bring children to our campus. Can we get them to return? We are visiting homes in our area. Can we get new people to show up? We have picked up two families in the past months. This is good. If we could get five young families, it would be like a dam bursting with the growth going viral, that’s what I know.
So, how do we prepare? We get ready internally, and we are doing that work. We invite people to come. We are doing that in our visitation and Fall Fling, but the most effective way is for YOU to INVITE PERSONALLY a family or person you know to come to church with you. Be excited about what God is doing in your life and in the church, and TELL SOMEBODY.
If you do that the dam will burst and God will multiply us and use us for His Glory.
Peace,
Burt
