Uncertain Times, Unshakable God

Christian Generosity

To say that we are living in uncertain times is an understatement:  from what is happening in our economy to the future of the denomination to the direction that Christ Church will choose is all uncertain at the moment.  On first reflection, it is easy to say that this is a horrible time to ask people to estimate what they’re giving to God through Christ Church Gastonia; however, when you remember that we are estimating our giving to God, we must remember that there is nothing more certain than He.  Amid the uncertainty, we stand upon the Solid Rock of Salvation.  We hold fast to that which is unshakable.  We ask you to estimate what you’re giving to God despite the currents and tides of the world because He is worthy, not because the church is worthy.  The church is as broken and flawed as the people in it, and we freely admit that we are all sinners.  We are sinners seeking forgiveness and redemption but sinners nonetheless.

As you come this week, we will have an estimate of giving card to give to you that looks like the one above, or you can go to our website to print one at home before you come (click the red button on the homepage).  The following Sunday, February 19th, there will be a time to present it if you are ready at the close of the service.  This represents your intentions to give for the coming year (March 1st, 2023, till February 29th, 2024).  This is just an estimate for you to use in your giving in the coming year.  It will be registered in our Realm Software as a reminder of your intention.  We fully expect that you will adjust your giving if things change for you financially in the year.  This is a tool for you to use in your stewardship before God.  I hope you will join Sharon and me in estimating our giving and offering it to God on the altar on February 19th.

Peace,

Pastor Burt

PS -- I have been advised by the doctors that I can be out of isolation after five days with a mask from the onset of symptoms (this Friday). I will lead worship Sunday. Still, I will only enter the sanctuary after worship starts and will not greet folks at the close for their safety.  Thank you for your prayers of healing.
