As we look forward to a new sermon series: "Solutionist!" We have just wrapped up the previous Series: "Faith Reckoning". Let's take a moment to rewind … Faith Reckoning had its base in Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." We live in a world where we see things all around us, the physical world, but we are also aware that there are many more things yet unseen in the spiritual world. And the only way to see into the spiritual world is through the lens of faith.
There are several choices of the lens through which to look in the spiritual world, but for Christians that lens must be Faith in Jesus Christ. Just as if you were looking through the lens of a microscope you need some sort of guide to help you know what you are seeing. For that God gives us the scripture. So, our lens is Jesus and our guide is the Bible; and in the scriptures, we find the history of God's interaction with his people, the wisdom of others who have journeyed with God, the prophecy of what is to come, and the glory of God that is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.
Our faith comes as a gift from God and is reckoned to us as righteousness (Romans 4:9) despite our depraved natures. Our faith in Jesus Christ who for us is unseen grants us a reprieve from our sin and unrighteousness before God. In so believing we trade the uncertain nature of the world for Spiritual certainty in the promises of God revealed in Jesus Christ.
So in faith we turn to Christ Jesus that we may know Him and through Him might have eternal life.
“The only SIN Jesus ever had was ours. And the only RIGHTEOUSNESS we can ever have is His.” –A.W. Tozer
