As you have perhaps seen or heard, Christ Church and 112 additional churches were allowed to exit from the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church by the vote of the Conference on Saturday, 11/04/2023.  This is both a time of joy and sadness.  We are happy to have completed the process and sad that the fellowship of the United Methodist Church was no longer a place we could dwell. 

Now, we look to the future.  The future looks different from this side of disaffiliation.  Sometime this week or early next week, our new deed will be filed minus the UMC Trust Clause.  Then, we will become a Global Methodist Congregation the following day.  The paperwork is filed, and the GMC has already approved our membership.  We will likely change our Sunday worship service time to 10:30 am on December 3rd. The Executive Team will make that determination at its meeting this Sunday. 

As we enter into the holiday season, I hope you will feel the excitement of the new day that is dawning.  I pray you will take the opportunity to invite those that you know to come and experience the love and warmth of Christ Church: A Global Methodist Congregation.  Invite them to be among the first members to join the new congregation alongside you as we all take membership vows on January 7th, 2024.  Invite them to your small group and into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Invite all you know into the new day that is dawning.
