Making Room

Burt Williams • November 22, 2023

We are in a new day, a new time, a new era in the life of Christ Church, and we must be ready … We have to make room.

Wow, what a difference a week makes.  God has blessed us. We did indeed receive our deed!!  We are now truly the stewards of all Christ has entrusted to us!  We will work to make good use of these resources and to welcome all whom he sends us.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who have been working tirelessly to serve Christ and His church. A special word of thanks to Alex Warren, who climbed the scaffolding and changed the highlights in the Sanctuary, and to Mike Jernigan of Jernigan Tree Experts for using his equipment to place the Cross back on our sign!

In keeping with the upcoming December sermon series (Make Room), we are making room in our lives, hearts, and church for the people God is calling to us.  And just like you, if you are receiving company over Thanksgiving, we are preparing our facilities to receive guests and new families.  They will be coming over the next six months and beyond.  We are in a new day, a new time, a new era in the life of Christ Church, and we must be ready … We have to make room.  The Christmas/Advent Season is a time of preparation for making room for the Christ Child and we will do that and we will make room for those coming.  It has already started. We had company, old family members whom we had not seen in a while this past Sunday. They are the first fruits of the harvest that God is preparing for His Church for this church.

As part of the preparations, you will note that our worship time is changing to 10:30 am. For many, this will not change your Sunday time frame. It is basically a swap of Sunday School and Worship times; for those who don’t attend Sunday School, this will mean moving your time ahead an hour.  We are doing this to be more hospitable to those who will come.

The First Sunday of the New Year, January 7th, will be Charter Member Sunday. More information is to come soon, but this is the Sunday when everyone will join the New Church.  Plan to be here, we have a special guest coming to welcome us to the Global Methodist Church to preach on that day and to assist in giving us our membership vows.

I pray you feel the excitement that I am experiencing with our new start, our Reboot … God is ready to do a new thing among us!  I feel a weight lifted and God’s blessing and trust you do as well.

Have a GREAT THANKSGIVING, and I’ll see you Sunday!

Peace,

Pastor Burt
