Thanks and Welcome!

I want to thank the congregation for an amazing day this past Sunday. You were so welcoming of our guests and made them feel welcome. They loved the music from the choir and Forever Changed our band. The meal was wonderful, and they enjoyed it. A special shout out to Daryl Hutchens for driving them to the motor home and taking them shopping after the service. I hope Sunday was just the start of a special relationship between Christ Church, The Global Methodist Church, and the Eurasian Methodist Churches. I will share other opportunities to be in mission with them as they arise.

Welcome to Roger Mathis who is starting this week in the role of our Office Administrator. He is Brandy’s husband and a pastor himself. We thank Roger for stepping into this role and look forward to working with him.

Roger's published hours are Monday & Wednesday from 9:00 am to 12 noon. He will be around at some other times as well but that’s when you can reach him in the office.

If you are excited about your faith in Christ and about Christ's Church, tell someone. Inviting a friend to church is the very best form of evangelism. It works best if you are excited about what Christ is doing in your life and in your church, and I believe we have much to be excited about!

Brothers and sisters in Christ (at Christ), I cannot begin to tell you how much I feel, see, and hear the love of Jesus Christ in this congregation.

So, in a world that is changing and amid our changing perspective, what is constant?

There is an order to what God does, and He orders the world and our lives and even time.

Ash Wednesday invites us to be marked with signs of our mortality and to acknowledge our fragile and transitory nature. It is a time to pause, to put to words our confession of rebellion against God’s will, and to be penitent before Him. Browns, grays, and black make the color palette for this holiday, and the attire, sackcloth and ashes.

So yes, the church is full of hypocrites, just as Alcoholics Anonymous is full of Alcoholics.

We need God’s help to change our nature and His mercy and grace to forgive our sins. This requires confession. Confession is a foundational piece of our faith and practice as followers of Christ Jesus.
